"Have you ever considered hosting a child who less fortunate, enabling him or her to experience the love, joy and inclusion of a family?"
A wonderful and exciting program sponsored by the Ukrainian Resource Center is the summer and winter hosting program. For three weeks each summer and during Christmas, a group of Ukrainian Orphan children are selected to visit America. Through this program the children are able to experience the American culture and a trip-of-a-lifetime. During the Christmas season, these children are able to experience a real Christmas, in a loving family environment and live the Christmas dream for what could be the very first time ever. Most importantly, the program is an opportunity for the children to see Christ in Christmas and to understand that Christmas is the birthday of our Lord and Savior and that his birthday is the reason for the season. HOW DOES IT WORK? The children are divided among American families who open their homes to a child or children for three weeks. During this time, the children live as part of the family, take field trips, attend church and many other activities. The most important thing this opportunity grants the children is the chance to live in an environment where they are loved and accepted. HOW TO BECOME A HOST HOME?
